Letting yourself get stupid
You would think that a 52 year old man would have better sense than to come home and smoke some weed. Not so, I tell you. Last march I came in for home time, ran into an old friend, and next thing I know I'm getting real stupid real fast. As a result, I haven't been able to find employment for over a year and I still have at least 2 more years to go before most companies will even talk to me. I'm putting this up as a warning to other drivers that let themselves get stupid. I've got over 20 years behind the wheel but that don't mean squat with a failed UA on your record. By the time I get back in a truck I'll be no better than a rookie and that hurts.

don't give up....
ok, so personally I don't agree with your poor choice on hometime. But, I have friends that have done the same thing. As far as companies go, no large carrier will take you. You already know that. The company you were working for also had a choice in whether they kept you or not, even if they don't know that they had that choice.
Have you talked to smaller local companies?? Don't forget that part of the problem is uninformed hiring departments who really do want everybody to fit in the perfect box. You will have better luck with small companies that will appreciate the rest of your history, not just seeing your red flag. If the rest of your record is clean, it isn't that hard.
You won't regress to the rookie stage either. I can promise you that. pk

Everybody makes mistakes....
My husband did the same thing, but he was on Workmans Comp after an accident.I think Drug testing is B.s.anyway.Office workers are the biggest true DOPEHEADS I know..pill poppers...YOU NAME it...the difference is,they are WARNED when they are getting tested, whereas WE have no warning!I don't do drugs, but I'm Die-Hard against drug tests. There's a big damn difference between smoking some weed on your time off, and getting behind the wheel everyday on CRACK!!
