Subject: Rumour Has It...
Content: ...that big companies like US Xpress are getting $3000 per driver they get to orientation. I don't know how I'd confirm this rumour,  but it seems the only logical explanation why big companies are continuing to advertise for jobs, pay hire on bonuses, and do what ever it takes to get you through the door, even though they have no frieght to haul. Figured this would be a good topic for "Best Trucking Companies to Work For" As one might be lead to believe (as I did) that aggresive hiring policies = lots of frieght. I was at a mediocre job until I spoke with a recruiter at US Xpress. He promised me the world. There was 60 people in orientation the day I went. First day I found out that my recruiters promises were lies (in fact they laughed about it). I should have ran away immediatly, but I figured they must have frieght. First couple of weeks I averaged less than 1000 miles a week. Why else would they hire all these drivers. The answer, $3000 from the fed. So, before you make the move, do your research. Chances are you are better staying where you are at. Last time I was in Tunnel Hill, they were expecting over 100 for Monday orientation. So far this week, I've run about 600 miles. BEWARE!!! P.S. I have 10 years experience, never a late delivery. Always professional atitude with customers and staff. Dispatcher must be happy with me as he suggested me for a dedicated account (either that or he wanted me off his board:) Dispatcher says there just isn't any frieght. I don't blame the company for that, I blame the company for hiring more drivers when they don't have work for their current drivers.
